Friends

Today I am thankful for my true friends. The old saying goes “A good friend will bail you out of jail, but a true friend is sitting right there beside you saying “dang…that was fun””. I have been blessed with many true friends. They have been there at many stages of my life….some have wandered in and out and but are still considered true friends. These are the ones that have been by my side, had my back, and kept me going during lots of events in my life. (sidebar—I feel like I’m using a lot of clichés today)
My friends have done lots of things for me:

• Introduced me to college life…..held my hair when necessary (no more info on that)

• Convinced me that life wasn’t over when a boyfriend stomped on my heart.

• Taught me that spontaneity is a good thing and being boring is not a good thing.

• Encouraging me to give a guy a second date. (which led to marriage)

• Celebrated my wedding day with me. (someone should have said something about the big hair—just sayin!)

• Assured me that giving birth is not so bad.

• Convinced me that daycare won’t warp a baby’s mind.

• Helped me move….several times.

• Put up with me when I didn’t know which way to turn when I had 2 children and worked full time.

• Reminded me that 2nd born children are more challenging and head strong.

• Used the phrase “This too shall pass”….frequently.

• Dried my tears when Jenna started kindergarten.

• Celebrated with me when Morgan started kindergarten.

  • Shopped with me

• Taught me not to take myself too seriously.

• Helped me raise my children.

• Surrounded me within hours of receiving Jenna’s brain tumor diagnosis.

• Prayed for Jenna….and for me…and for Morgan…and for Michael.

• Gotten me out and away from it all when I didn’t even know I needed it.

• Helped keep our lives “normal”…..or helped find or encourage a “new normal”

• Make me laugh.

• Stood by me during the darkest days after Jenna died.

• Told me they didn’t know what to do for me.

• Always seem to know when I need that call or email.
  • Shopped with me.

• Allow me to be “in a funk” when necessary.

• Always there for me….for anything.

• Take me away for girls weekends.

• Make me happy and feel blessed and thankful for each and every one of them!

To all my friends….can’t name you or I could get in trouble if I left someone off…..you know who you are….I love you and am so very thankful for you!
