Who Knew?

I have been learning all sorts of things lately. Thought I would share this one since it is a "rare ....but it can happen" sort of thing.
Some how. Some Way. I managed to chip a diamond. Yes, I chipped one of the small diamonds in my 3 stone ring. I had no idea a diamond could be broken....or chipped or whatever you want to call it. I also have no idea how or when it happened. I just looked down one day and my ring looked dirty--sort of cloudy. I decided I'd better clean it. The cleaning didn't help the problem. So, I took out my glasses and took a closer look. That's when I saw a chunk missing from my diamond.
This is what I saw. (see the ding in the upper left side?)
Needless to say, certain members of the household were not too happy with me.
There was no choice but to have it repaired...which basically means getting a new stone for the ring. I did try to pitch the "upgrade opportunity" and get a new one....but it obviously didn't fly with certain members of the household. The jewelry store did say it happens more often than you know. (I think they were trying to make me feel better...or maybe help me out with certain people)
My ring is now back in one piece....and I'm going to try and be really careful (for a while--who knows what I did the first time to cause the problem). And I have a really cool memento too--how many people own a loose chipped diamond? LOL
So, now I've shared my knowledge. Live and learn folks.

I can't imagine why the upgrade angle didn't work - ha!!!
