For some crazy reason, I decided that I needed to find some little ways to be more healthy. (the key word was "little" - not looking to go too crazy) After talking with a couple people, I decided to give up diet drinks. I did not decide to give up caffeine--that would make me very grumpy and very unhappy. I am doing my best to avoid all forms of artificial sweeteners. Today is two weeks since I gave up my Diet Coke and Diet Sundrop. Let me tell you, it has not been easy. I had a headache for 7 days straight. And I don't even consider myself a hard core diet soda drinker. I would have 2 most days and sometimes 3. But I obviously had enough to feel the side effects of going without them.
My caffeine is mostly coming from unsweetened tea. It's kind of boring right now and I really miss the carbonation. I hear there are some "more healthy/natural" sodas available at Trader Joe's. Will check into it and report back at a later time. I'm not saying that I'll never have another diet soda. It may become a treat or a once in a while type thing. For now, I'll just stick to my water, tea, & an occasional cup of coffee.
Who knows what will be my next crazy "get healthier" idea. Stay tuned.

Trader Joe's sells Hansen beverages, which are made with Splenda. I'm not sure whether you'd find that acceptable or not.
They are rather pricey, so if you have a three soda a day habit, it could become expensive. If it's just an occasional treat, though, I don't think it would be an issue.
