The photographers and most of the family spent a day touring the North side of the island while Morgan, Nicole and I hung at the resort. It's nice to have some down time during a trip...I am all about a day of relaxing close to the beach and by the pool.
We had a blast on the 4th of July. We took a quick trip to Wailua Falls (this is the waterfall from Fantasy Island). The photo group had seen it the day before but needed another visit with sunshine since it had rained the day before. Then we headed to Lydgate beach and did a little snorkeling (this was our intro to snorkeling location for Morgan who was just learning). I have to admit snorkeling is one of my "it's ok" type activities....enjoy it but not totally my thing. I was just as happy sitting on the towel on the beach watching all the people and enjoying the ocean view. The waves were pretty crazy that day...they were knocking me around....you wouldn't believe the sand that came home in my suit that day! But it was fun to be out in them for a while.

In the afternoon we headed out to hit some of the sights on the South Side of the island. Our first stop was at Spouting Horn....it's a natural blowhole in the reef. It was really active while we were there.

We hit another beach - Po'ipu - for more snorkeling. We got an extra treat here--we were able to see a monk seal while it was sunning/resting from all the eating it does at night. They had the area around the seal marked off and there was a gentlemen there who told us there are only about 1100 monk seals in the Hawaiian islands --yes it's on the endangered species list.

We finished off our day by enjoying fireworks...wouldn't be the 4th of July without fireworks.
Some random photos from our day:
Ok, that's probably enough for now. Just a little more time to cover in another post...and then maybe I'll be finished with Hawaii...but then maybe not....so many photos to share!
Love, Tricia
