The Delayed Birthday Party

Morgan had a great "delayed" birthday party yesterday. It was nice to have a pool party--definitely not something you can do in February. We had to use the heater to get the pool warmed up a little for the girls. Cold pool water and teenage girls do not mix! I think they all had a great time--I know the birthday girl had a blast!
Here's what we did with the frame you saw Morgan painting earlier. A friend found an old picture at a thrift store and picked it up for me. We discarded everything but the frame. We were going for a "photo booth" type thing. Had some trouble with the background fabric...but overall turned out well.
We also had a candy bar as the big finale. We had it set up on the kitchen table and then we covered with a sheet so no one could tell what was underneath. Morgan kept telling the girls there was a big surprise which peaked their curiousity. When we lifted the sheet there was this collective "gasp" and I heard "candy" whispered several times from the girls. It was a HUGE hit.The phrase "kid in a candy store" came to mind. There was obviously some serious girl talk happening.
And a happy girl with lots of smiles. And a tired mom :-) (I never end up in pictures on the blog so had to use this)It was a great day....a special way to celebrate our teenager!
