New Year

Well, it's now 2009. I guess it's a time to make resolutions and all that.....but I think I'll skip it. I don't have any thoughts on big resolutions anyway. I just have the normal stuff that I should be doing anyway: eating more healthy, being more frugal with money, etc. I guess now that I'm typing there are a couple things I need to do. The first is find gainful employment this year. All I want is a little part time job to get me out of the house. You know one of those jobs that is 10am - 2pm with an hour for lunch. HA HA HA. And the other thing is to do more scrapbooking this year. Last year I did A LOT of organizing but very little actual scrapbooking. Maybe I should have scrapbooking parties this year--I'm all about a party!

I have to share an experience I had today. (after lunch with my bloggy friend Lucy and soon to be bloggy friend Laura--no pressure friend) I was at the grocery store checking out and the nice young man that was the cashier recognized me and asked if I was Morgan's mom and we chatted about her for a minute. He then went on to ask me how my Christmas was--and gave me the look that said "I know it wasn't an easy time". I answered that it was ok and then he says to me "Did you do anything special for Jenna this year?" He went on to explain that he had been at his girlfriends on the 27th and that she had remembered the date that Jenna died and they'd discussed it, etc. I was so surprised--this well spoken 16-17 year old actually brought up Jenna in a conversation. It's something that a lot of adults can't even do much less teenagers. It just made my day. I came right home and told Michael and he said I definitely needed to blog about that. (the ever helpful husband--helping me find material for my blog!)

Morgan is not ready to go back to school. She's gotten very good at sleeping late. She's slept until 10am a couple days during the break. She used to never do that. Is there a switch that gets flipped and all of a sudden when you hit middle school you can sleep all day?

Here are a couple pictures of things she's been doing over the last few days. She normally goes to our neighbors before Christmas to make the gingerbread house but travel schedules made it an after Christmas event this year.
