Road Trip

We took a little road trip over the Memorial Day weekend.  When your daughter is into all things soccer, it means you should go to soccer games, right?  This soccer game involved a 9+ hour drive to Philadelphia.  We had tickets to see the US Women's National Team play China.  This is the team that will be playing in the Olympics later this summer.  The long drive was definitely worth it.  We had a wonderful trip and enjoyed seeing the team "up close and personal".
On Saturday the team held an open practice for fans.  We were able to be right beside the fence as the team practiced.  We were very close to the goalies as they had their practice.  (Note:  these pictures are from my little point and shoot camera.  I will share the resident photographers shoots another day)
Arriving at the PPL stadium.  Soccer ball in hand for autographs and someone getting his camera ready with the proper filters or something.

Abby Wambach signing autographs - she signed Morgan's ball but no photo
Megan Rapinoe signing Morgan's soccer ball
After the practice session we headed into Philadelphia for a little bit of history.

That was the fun from Saturday.  On Sunday we did a little exploring in the area near our hotel.  (and basically didn't take many pictures)
The actual game was on Sunday evening.  It was a beautiful night for soccer with a sold out stadium.

Beautiful shot of bridge right behind Stadium - we think it went into NJ.  (the little blue spec is Hope Solo :-) )
We attended a women's soccer match about 2-3 years ago in Charleston, SC and I have to admit I knew nothing about the team or the players at that time.  It was just something to do that Morgan would enjoy.  This trip was totally different for me.  I knew most of the names of the players, their positions and even some fun info about them.  I cheered for them by name--just like I would at a club or school soccer game.  (like I knew how to spell Rapinoe without having to look it up)  My how the times have changed.  I think it means I'm really and truly a soccer fan now.
Will show some of the great shots the real photographer took in the next day or so.
