Of course...

I woke up this morning with big plans to catch up on the old blog today.  I have a few pictures on my camera to share and it was going to be fabulous.  Of course, my plan has failed miserably.  For some reason the card reader isn't working today so I can't upload my photos.  And of course, hubby isn't around to help solve the problem.  I guess it's just going to be words today.  Just so you aren't too distraught, the pictures weren't of anything too fabulous.  They're mostly of the mundane things happening around here....and yes, there may have been a shot or two of my sweet potato vine.  It's a summer blog tradition.  Don't worry.  I will get hubby working on this issue and there will be photos soon.
Let me see if I can remember the things I wanted to cover today.
  • It is VERY quiet around here.  Morgan is attending Montreat Youth Conference this week.  I know she is having a great time.  I think the last time Morgan went to "camp" that wasn't soccer related was for Camp Care with Jenna.  Wow.  That was a long time ago.
  • I have had a birthday since my last post.  Yes, the years just keeping sneaking up on me. It was a fun, low key day.  We had a fabulous brunch here at the house.  (have I ever mentioned that hubby makes a killer omelet?)  My parents came over for dinner and we had steak and crab legs.  I love crab legs but hate all the work involved.  It was a fun treat.  Morgan made cupcakes but there were NO candles involved.
  • I have agreed to do this race with some friends.  I have avoided "challenge" type races and 5K races very successfully thus far in my life.  Once my friend showed me this one, I thought "hey, you're not getting any younger and this looks like a lot of fun so go ahead and suck it up and just do it!"    I'm trying to convince the resident photographer that he should tag along to capture the day in photos.  I didn't receive a warm response so it's kind of iffy.
  • It's July 9th and there are two things that are missing from my summer.  1) I have not had a tomato sandwich!!  I love homegrown tomato sandwiches--Duke's mayonnaise must be used to make it perfect.  2) My toes have not touched the sand.  This should be corrected very soon so I am not stressing over this.
Ok, I think I have covered enough material for today.  I've got to get myself ready for volunteering today.  I still keep running into people when I'm there.  A couple weeks ago I ran into one of our favorite pediatricians.  He was there for a meeting and we were able to catch up for a bit.  You don't see a pediatrician very often when you have a healthy 16 yr old.  :-)
Have a great Tuesday! Tricia
